Column and Stacked Column Charts

Single Variable Column Chart
  • Comparing values of a variable, represented by column height, across the X-axis categories.

A Stacked Column Chart

XY (Value Axes) Column/Stacked Column Charts
  • XY (value axes) column: Comparing Y-values of a data series represented by column length, across the sorted values of X-axis*.
  • XY (value axes) stacked column: Comparing the contribution of two or more Y-series to the total across the sorted values of X-axis*, where the column height represents the sum of the parts that make the total.

An XY (Value Axes) Stacked Column Chart

* In the value axes column/stacked column charts, both Y and X axes require continuous data.

Stacked Column Series Across X Categories
  • Comparing the contribution of two or more Y series to the total across the X-axis categories, where the column height represents the sum of the parts that make the total.
  • When using 100% stacked column, the column height represents the normalized sum of the parts that make the total.
